“Plants bring us the love, the nourishing power of the sun, which is the same energy of all the stars, of all light. These cosmic energies emanated by plants thus nourish, sustain and make grow our own astral body. In this way the existence of plants is a great offering, a sacrifice.”

There’s a lot of talk in my circles about being, ‘on your path’, while we seek to be authentic we often find ourselves making conditioned choices that aren’t in alignment with our longterm goals or our vision for humanity as a whole. These choices can include a variety of excesses; such as, over spending, excess consumption (drinking, eating, shopping), gossip, exaggerating/lying, avoiding, sabotaging, judging, assuming, etc. All of these habits are driven by our shared existential anxieties; separation, difference, and fear.

I personally feel that the farther away we are from support systems that nourish and inspire us the more we consume unnecessarily and the earth and our spirits groan beneath this consumption.

There are many deleterious effects of a material based culture that reach far beyond our bank accounts. Child labor, pollution, landfills and illness -are obvious, the more subtle effects of a materially based culture strengthen illusions of hierarchy and difference, encourage labeling, judging and spiritual bankruptcy.

Living spiritually doesn’t mean giving up pleasures entirely, but rather it means appreciating and not hoarding. Spiritual lifestyle doesn’t require that you dreadlock your hair or forgo your favorite salon, believing that spirituality requires aestheticism is a misconception perpetuated by dualistic philosophy. Ultimately it’s another symptom of the existential angst that separation from source engenders.

The hungry ghost person is never filled roaming the earth seeking to fulfill an unquenchable void.

Creating a uniform be it, unkept, ‘groovy’ or ‘polished’, only temporarily satiates our ego and the angst ridden feeling of separation through a creation of tribe, ‘likeness’. We are alike, they are different. Really it’s all boring bulli$^*t…

When we are really deluded it makes it impossible to see beyond the surface into anothers heart. Tribes are formed around religions, as well as ideologies. The process of identity formation should be fluid and should progress toward intimacy rather than isolation and tribe mind.

Therefore, connection is imperative for us to individuate in a meaningful way. Being that this is our shared reality, it helps to have a spiritual friend and community who know your personal goals and can be of support on the path of authenticity. This community is not separate from or better than, it has no dress code, it asks that we feel into life affirming practices that nourish and sustain us because it serves our soul and actually quenches us on a soul level.

This is a really longwinded way of introducing Gaia Weaving. My vision is to create community around earth ethics that sustain and empower us to live more freely through authenticity and grounded experiences by cultivating true community.
